GP appointments available over Christmas and New Year

Extra appointments are available for patients in the evenings, at weekends and on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and over New Year.

If you need to see a GP urgently and can’t get an appointment in our usual surgery hours, please call 111 and ask to book a GP appointment. Alternatively, you can visit the walk in centres at Sheppey Community Hospital or at Balmoral gardens healthy Living Centre in Medway.

The extra GP appointments are designed to help relieve the pressure on A&E and out of hours GP services over the festive period.

Not all GPs will be open in the evenings, on the Bank Holidays and at weekends – but those which are will be able to see patients registered at any practice.

The NHS is under unprecedented pressure locally and nationally with many people going to A&E when they could get care elsewhere. Help us to help you use the NHS wisely by calling 111 to speak to a call handler who can advise you where you can see a doctor, and if appropriate will redirect you to other NHS services.

The additional GP capacity in Swale will run from 22 December to 8 January.
